Federal Heights, Colorado City Council cut the maximum fine for possession of marijuana in half and eliminated the possibility of jail time for the offense. One councilor voted against the new law as she thought the fine should be reduced even further. The previous maximum fine was $1000 and is now $500. Councilor Tanya Ishikawa thinks the fine should be set at $100 saying “… it’s not a major crime ..”.
